Pat Lam calls on three Connacht players for Barbarians clash with England

Connacht trio Dave Heffernan, Finlay Bealham and Niyi Adeolokun have all been named in the 23 man Barbarians squad to face England at Twickenham on Sunday.

The trio will join former Ulster All Blacks Charles Piutau and John Afoa in the squad while England prop Joe Marler and ex-Wallabies captain James Horwill have also been added. https://twitter.com/Barbarian_FC/status/1132949313812934656 Lam, who joined Bristol in June 2017, has thrived in the Premiership and recently signed a new deal with the Bears that will see him remain at Ashton Gate on a deal until 2023.

 Club owner Stephen Lansdown said of the contract extension: “Pat Lam has reinvigorated this club and given us a clear purpose and direction for the future. "He has created an environment and team spirit that the whole city has bought into.”

Meanwhile Lam has said that his ambition is to bring a Premiership trophy to Bristol with the Bears finishing in ninth place last season in what was their first full campaign in the top flight of English Rugby.

“I’m proud to commit my future to Bristol and it was an easy decision to make,” Lam said. “We’ve set out a plan to bring a Premiership trophy to Ashton Gate and we’re at the start of that journey.”
