New French Six Nations jersey is a dead ringer for Spain’s Euro 2012 football kit

Allez le Bleus don't mean jack to adidas

Red outside. Blue inside. Marketing babble everywhere else.

France will take on Vern Cotter’s Scotland at Stade de France, on Saturday, kitted out in a new, red home jersey.

Les Bleus and the Scots have a long-standing tradition [the last decade] of wearing a change strip at home whenever they meet. The French usually opt for white and blue or, as was the case in 2013, all white.

Adidas approached them this year with a novel idea – a gigantic dash of red for their Six Nations opener. The tagline reads ‘Rouge dehors. Bleus dedans’ but it remains to be seen what the ever-skeptical French public make of it.

We’re hoping Mathieu Bastareaud takes to the field, this weekend, with the same Tricolour draped over his hulking shoulders.

To us, The French get-up looks more like the Spanish 2012 football kit. Adidas must have had a few going spare.
