A tournament which promised so much.
It hasn’t even been two years since the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
The tournament had so many memorable (not all positive) moments; Ireland’s emotional victory over France, Japan shocking the world with their win over South Africa, England failing to get out of their group on home soil and a very entertaining final between Australia and New Zealand.
With regards to Ireland, lessons have been learned.
The squad was strong, but there was a lack of strength in depth and this is something which Joe Schmidt is aiming to rectify and has done so over the past 18 months.
