WATCH: Incredible Munster secure historic win over the Maori All Blacks

One scrappy, several sublime

The sold out Thomond Park crowd got quite the show in the opening 40 minutes.

Munster hosted the Maori All Blacks on Friday night and after a wonderful touch from the visitors prior to kick-off, both sets of players quickly went about scoring sensational tries.

Munster were first off the mark in typical style after a clean lineout resulted in an unstoppable drive for the line which was finished by Niall Scannell.

Fast hands and stunning support play, combined with the slick surface, led to the Maori’s first score

There wasn’t long to wait before the visitors were back on the scoresheet as they stormed over directly from the restart.

Five minutes later and the Munster faithful were treated to a gloriously scrappy score when a kick over the top from Darren Sweetnam prompted a game of ping pong with the ball before the referee had no choice but to award a penalty try.

Sweetnam’s boot was also responsible for the final score of the half but this time he was able to chase and display a beautiful touch before getting his hands to the ball.

The historic win was secured in the second half when Ronan O’Mahony got on the end of Duncan Williams’ box kick to put the result beyond all doubt.
