Rugby fans are having serious withdrawal symptoms with the British and Irish Lions finished for another four years.

What a Test series it was for the Lions, a loss followed by a win and then, of course, a draw.

There was no separating the Lions and New Zealand and there were a number of standout performers throughout the tour.

Sean O’Brien impressed as too did Taulepe Faletau but one man stood out from the rest.

Jonathan Davies has played every minute of each of the last six Lions Test matches and is, without a doubt, the first name on the teamsheet.

And at the conclusion of the tour each of the Lions voted for the best player throughout the Test tour and Davies was the popular choice to win the Standard Life Investments Lion’s Lion of the Tour award.

The Welshman was honoured to receive the award and spoke highly of his teammates upon accepting the accolade.

“I’m blown away to receive this award from my peers. I have loved every minute of this amazing tour, with an amazing group of players and to receive this from them is very special,” he said.

“To come to somewhere like New Zealand, the home of the double world champions after such a short time together and to run them as close as we did is a huge achievement. Both teams have put in a huge effort and we have to be very proud of what we have achieved on this tour. It’s been very special for me.”
