Leinster’s PRO12 clash with Glasgow Warriors in OFF

Raining heavily

Patrick McCarry

Storm Desmond, you’ve had your fun but this is a step too far.

Many Leinster fans were unable to travel over to Glasgow last night as Storm Desmond played havoc with airlines and flight controllers.

The storm, which battered most of Ireland and the UK through the night (and is still raging), has had an adverse affect on Warriors’ Scotstoun stadium.

Heavy rains have left the pitch sodden and very soft underfoot.

Shortly after 11am, the bad news was confirmed.

If there had been any possibility of playing the game safely, both sides would surely prefer to get out there.

The Parisian terror attacks have already seen PRO12 organisers rejig the fixture list. Munster and Ulster are among the sides facing a hectic January.

Warriors have already seen a Champions Cup fixture postponed due to security fears. Another cancellation could see sides playing midweek fixtures to catch up in 2016.
