Well, this is awkward.
Poor Jonny Wilkinson was just trying to be humble.
The English rugby legend was left red-faced though when he responded to hundreds of congratulatory tweets, all of which jumped the gun on speculation that the 2003 World Cup winner would be honoured with a knighthood in the New Year’s Honours List.
And, although Wilko appeared pretty noble, it was ultimately premature.
Because, when the list was announced, the Toulon player was nowhere to be seen and Wilkinson had to quickly back-track.
Might not be on the NY list by the way. Congrats 2 those will be + the many who deserve 2 be. Your support still baffles the hell out of me!
