This is a taste of what Jared Payne can do when given a little time and space.

The Kiwi was Joe Schmidt's No.13 for the Six Nations. He was not for budging. Tonight at Kingspan Stadium, Payne started at fullback and showed how dangerous he can be when he gets an extra metre of two. Payne set up Craig Gilroy for a superb try that sealed their crucial league win over table-topping Connacht. Rory Best got Ulster's first try after a monstrous rolling maul. Paddy Jackson knocked over two penalties to keep the visitors at bay. Connacht got a fine, converted score of their own from Caolin Blade and Shane O'Leary knocked over a first half penalty. Pat Lam's men finished with 13 men on the pitch and two in the sin bin. They defended with much heart but could not get the losing bonus point. Click snap
