Japan are promoting World Cup 2019 with Paul O’Connell posters

Proper order

He couldn’t… could he?

We are a little over four months away from Paul O’Connell’s fourth and final World Cup.

Despite interest from Toulon, and Munster’s desire to keep him as long as possible, O’Connell looks set to retire in June 2016.

Don’t tell that to the organisers and promoters of the 2019 World Cup, in Japan.

Helen O’Rahily, who works for RTE, is in Kyoto today and spotted this poster advertising the 2019 tournament with a poster of a majestic O’Connell claiming a line-out against the Welsh.

O’Connell will be 39, going on 40, by the time the World Cup arrives in the Land of the Rising Sun.

If Brad Thorn, Bakkies Botha and Victor Matfield can play on into their late 30s, and, in Thorn’s case, early 40s, maybe it is not such a crazy poster after all.
