QUIZ: Can you name Ireland’s starting XV from their 2018 Grand Slam decider?

Patrick McCarry

Grand Slam

“Ireland win Grand Slam on English soil after St Patrick’s Day masterclass’

That was our headline, back on March 17th in 2018, as Ireland ruthlessly dismantled England at Twickenham to claim on the third Grand Slam in their history.

Joe Schmidt’s men beat England 24-15 in a game that was not as close as the final scoreline suggests. First half tries from Jacob Stockdale, CJ Stander and Garry Ringrose set them on their way and they closed the game out in the second half.

For our quiz, we want you to name the Ireland starting line-up from that day.

We are giving your four minutes and have set out the positions. We just need you to fill out the names, with surnames just fine if you are looking to save time (either way will do!).

Good luck with it!

“It was great,” Peter O’Mahony would later reflect on that Grand Slam triumph on St Patrick’s Day, 2018.

“Look, we had some good momentum and we were playing well. But you need a little luck as well. We got a couple of bounces of the ball. A couple of our first-phase strikes came off well and that gives you a bit of momentum, and a bit of a gap in the score…

“It was a nice feeling during it, too. It was one of those games that wasn’t nail-biting so it was nice to be able to enjoy it. They are the days you want to recreate, and do special things.”
