Grenoble’s Irish stars on the scoresheet as Connacht get walloped in Galway

Let’s hope this is not a precursor for the season ahead.

Bernard Jackman returned to Galway, last night, and led his Grenoble team to a 52-19 battering of Connacht.

Jackman, who played two stints as hooker for Connacht, was delighted with the lack of mercy shown by his side as they tore their hosts asunder.

The match was close enough for much of the first half but once the Top 14 side hit the front, they never looked back.

Among Grenoble’s eight tryscorers were two Irishman – scrumhalf James Hart and former Ulster centre Chris Farrell.

Post-match, Connacht coach Pat Lam was not too disheartened with the opening pre-season joust.
