Oooofff

LIV Golf finds itself in a crisis at the minute, with the Louisiana leg of the tour cancelled - supposedly because of hot weather and the football World Cup - while the Saudis have also confirmed that they will be pulling their funding at the end of the current season.

Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell is part of the rebranded LIV Smash GC team, which is now named Oklahoma GC, with captain Talor Gooch, Harold Varner III and Jason Kokrak.

Footage was shared of G-Mac talking about his 'new' team, and watchers were cringing at the 'LinkedIn-speak' of the statement and the self-seriousness at which he spoke about a league that few fans are particularly passionate about.

Not G-Mac's finest moment

He said: "You know, for Taylor to be leading the first sort of US-centric kind of geographically located team here in Oklahoma, I think it's extra special.

"He creates a culture, he creates an energy for a team. I'm proud to be part of this team.

"And I think leaning on Taylor's connections and his routes in the community here I think bring a fan base and being able to give back to the community philanthropically, just all the levels, all the things that you need to build foundationally, build a great team, I think we'll be leaning on this guy.

"And like I say, very proud to be part of it."

Gooch's statement was not much better.

He said: “This is incredibly meaningful to me. Oklahoma is where I grew up and where I learned how to compete. To now represent this state through OKGC and bring that identity with us around the world is something I’m really proud of. We’re building a team that people can connect with, one that reflects the pride, resilience and mindset of Oklahoma everywhere we go.”
