Free Champions Cup final ticket offer a mistake, claim organisers

If you really, really want to see the French powerhouses grind it out now, you will have to stump up at least €75.

Those free tickets that went up on Ticketmaster, for the Champions Cup final, over the weekend, well, that was a boo-boo. According to the new governing body that has so drastically revamped the Heineken Cup, that is.

Rugby supporters who were on the ticketing website, on Saturday and Sunday, discovered that they could get free tickets to this Saturday's final - between Clermont and Toulon - if they wanted to cover the £2 [€2.80] booking fee.

The freebie was supposed to be linked with the full purchase of a ticket for the Avia Premiership final, which will also be at Twickenham, London. No such Premiership purchase was required, however.

Ticketmaster has since removed the link, and offer. That part, organisers explain, was a mistake but an effective two-finals-for-one deal is still available.

An EPCR spokesperson told The Express, 'The limited offer of tickets to those who purchased Aviva Premiership final tickets was accessible to the wider public for a short period. But this has now been closed and all discount offers and associated offers are linked to a purchase.'

As of Monday evening, some 45,000 tickets for the all-French final had been 'sold'.

Yesterday 45,000 tickets had been sold for the all-French final at Twickenham.

Log on to Ticketmaster today and there are still a heap of tickets on the go. The three pricing options are (including booking fee) €73, €97 or €121.
