Sexton, Murray O’Mahony and co. belting out Fields of Athenry is just brilliant

The scenes.

The only way to celebrate a Grand Slam triumph, these Irish lads will be celebrating for quite a while.

Rugby players are well known for their ability to let their hair down as soon as the opportunity arises and these Irish lads are no different. After claiming a historic Grand Slam title on Saturday afternoon, they had as good an excuse as they’ve ever had to go wild.

It couldn’t have gone much better, really. Travelling over to England and beating them on their own patch, on St. Patrick’s Day, to claim what would be the third Grand Slam title in this country’s history.

No wonder the whole nation is going wild.

The lads mirrored their stirring performances on the field of play en-route to that famous 24-15 victory in the aftermath of the game.

Peter O’Mahony, Conor Murray and Johnny Sexton were giving it socks. Bundee Aki was making an instrument out of what looked like a drink tray. Iain Henderson was guzzling the cans of Guinness and Jack McGrath was just soaking it all in.

They all contributed to what was a spine-tingling version of what has to be Ireland’s most trusted and go-too celebratory chants.

Great scenes as the Irish lads crack out Fields of Athenry!
