Dan Biggar reveals plans for MNF style rugby show with Ronan O’Gara

This would be huge!

During what has been a relatively poor Lions Tour, one of the highlights has been the commentary and punditry from Dan Biggar and Ronan O’Gara.

The former Wales and Ireland out-halves have complimented each other beautifully for Sky Sports, with their deep knowledge of the intricacies of the game, and their willingness to disagree with each other.

Fans and journalists have been full of praise for the two legends on social media.

Writer Paul Williams wrote: “It’s amazing listening to O’Gara on comms. Spotting and calling defensive disconnects before they happen. Calling tens kicking 50/22s prior to them happening. Him and Biggar have been incredible.”

Content creator Will Owen of Squidge Rugby said: “Absolutely obsessed with O’Gara and Biggar’s constant arguing on comms, especially because they both really know their onions. Only way it could get any better is if they got Sexton in the box with them to call them both cunts”.

There will have been disappointment after the second Test last Saturday, as O’Gara had to leave to go back to his full-time job as head coach of La Rochelle.

But Biggar revealed in an interview alongside ROG for the iPaper, that the two of them have been discussing the possibility of reuniting for a Monday Night Football style show, giving the two men even more time to break down and analysis the game.

Biggar said: “We probably don’t get enough time in this capacity to expand on a point.

“We’d love to be able to do something for the real rugby nerds. Why is he kicking here? Or, if they play this way, if they play that way, what does it mean for the defence, for the attack, etc?

“We’ve looked at Monday Night Football as a great example – it gives you a big, long build-up to talk and review the games on the weekend. We’ve realised that we have struck something up quite nicely on tour in the last four or five weeks. I’m sure we’ll do some bits and pieces, going forward. And the price has gone up after the last few weeks.”
