Connacht want Pat Lam to extend stay in the west

Lam's current deal runs out in the summer

Irish-speaking New Zealander might need to learn a bit more than the cúpla focal if new deal is agreed.

Pat Lam had a shaky start to life at Connacht with not everyone convinced that the New Zealander would be a success west of the Shannon.

However, Connacht’s form in Europe and in the Pro 12 this year as well as the signings of Mils Muliaina and Bundee Aki means things are pretty positive for everybody at the Sportsgrounds these days.

And it looks like the province are going to try and tie down Lam to a long term deal in Galway.

Reports in today’s Irish Independent suggest that Lam will be offered an extention to his current deal which runs out in the summer to stay at Connacht until 2018.

We’ve really warmed to Lam this year and we would love to see him hang around and continue with his Irish-speaking ways:
