In demand

Worcester Warriors have reportedly approached Cian Healy’s people about luring the loosehead to England.

‘Tis the season.

No sooner have the IRFU tied up contracts for Keith Earls and Conor Murray than the next senior star is knocking on their oak doors.

Cian Healy has, according to The Irish Times, received a lucrative offer to play his rugby at Worcester Warriors from next season on.

Warriors are said to have put forward a three-year deal to Healy, who is currently out of international action after minor knee surgery. The deal is for more money than Healy is currently on with Leinster Rugby and the IRFU.

Healy would be one of Ireland’s higher earners, with an annual salary in the region of €400,000.

In recent weeks, the union have seen Ian Madigan and Marty Moore confirm respective moves to Bordeaux and Wasps. Approaches for Earls and Zebo were both staved off.

The 28-year-old has 56 caps with Ireland yet has only had four starts [nine appearances in total] for his country over the last two years. Unjuries [neck and knee] have seen him start only eight times for Leinster in the same period.

Negotiations are not said to be at an advanced stage so expect an IRFU email in the coming weeks confirming that Healy has re-committed himself to Leinster for the next three seasons.
