He only retired earlier this year but it would take a brave person to argue against Brian O'Driscoll's induction into the RTE Hall of Fame.
But the great man seemed to be a little overcome with emotion when he was surprised with the honour at Sunday night's ceremony.
And while he's been ice cool on the pitch over 15 years he struggled to keep it together when he saw who it was who was presenting him with the award.
