If this were a boxing match, the towel would have been thrown by now.

Sky Sports are set to announce their Sportswoman of the Month award, for March, and an Irish rugby star is moonwalking it.

Alison Miller scored three big tries for Ireland in their final two games of their triumphant Six Nations campaign. Miller, who ran in a memorable try in a World Cup win over New Zealand last summer, is one of six nominees for the accolade.

As of 10am, Miller had 83% of the public vote. The only athlete pushing her close is Liane Sanderson [14%] while the other four nominees have a combined 3%.

Many of Miller’s teammates, including Ireland captain Niamh Briggs, have got behind a drive to get the Portlaoise native a richly deserved honour.
