No love lost

These two lads really don’t like each other.

Urijah Faber and Conor McGregor are both doing their utmost to ramp up interest in the 22nd series on The Ultimate Fighter.

The featherweight pair have been trading trash for the past 18 months and grappled with each other, backstage, after the weigh-ins for UFC 189.

McGregor and Faber will, respectively, coach Team Europe and Team USA during TUF 22.

We have already seen pictures of the men flanking UFC president Dana White at fights to get into the TUF house, and the early promos have been recorded.

Now, Faber has revealed that he clashed with McGregor, again. This time the altercation took place in the TUF gym.

He said, ‘I asked Conor about it and he said “I don’t know. It was just, kind of playing”.

‘And it happened again, a couple of days ago. They didn’t have any cameras on us, but we were giving each other crap. We were testing each other and, next minute, we were manhandling each other. It always ends up with him getting pissed off.’

Faber took over from Chad Mendes, who was originally lined up to coach Team USA in TUF before Jose Aldo pulled out of UFC 189 with a rib injury.

As for McGregor’s interim title victory over Mendes, Faber said, ‘I can’t wait to see those two guys do it again. I think we saw some holes in Conor’s game… I don’t think his ground game is very good.’

The American said McGregor, who he had just spoken to, believes he ‘dominated the fight and annihilated Chad from the very beginning’. McGregor, he added, was ‘full-on delusional’.

However, Faber later joked, ‘He seems like a decent guy. I like his mentality.’
