New Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather update is probably the most frustrating one yet

Stop the presses! We’re no closer to booking that crossover megafight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.

We know you’re busy with your actually job, but come on, get the finger out, Dana White.

It’s fair to say that everyone is fed up of the McGregor-Mayweather talk by now, and the worst part is, the real talk hasn’t even begun yet.

We are, of course, referring to the all-important money chat, and no matter how optimistic White is about the chances of this fight actually happening, until everyone gets together in the same room and discusses the terms, it’s all just… well, talk.

Remember when the UFC president was hoping to sit down with Team Mayweather and try to reach an agreement? That was supposed to happen two weeks ago. The deal between the UFC and McGregor is supposedly done, but as White told MMA Fighting before a Mets game in New York on Wednesday, that conversation still hasn’t happened.

“We haven’t even got there yet. We haven’t even talked percentages yet. … Floyd can think whatever, but the machine that the UFC has and Conor McGregor alone is a machine by himself. I think that 50-50 is pretty fair.”

White admitted that the blame for these negotiations to actually commence was because he and McGregor hadn’t ‘got their stuff together,’ but now that they reportedly have. However, we’re all still waiting.

“We’re ready to go, and I think what we’re looking at in the deal is as fair as fair can be. You’ve gotta understand, Floyd and [Al] Haymon and that group are used to dealing with the scummiest human beings on the planet Earth. I think it’s a little refreshing working with us. And I’m not just being arrogant. They’ve said that to us. I can see it getting done.”

The optimism is good, but until it actually gets done, it’s just all talk.
