WATCH: The horrific MMA injury that most of you probably missed on Saturday

Warning: graphic

You’ll be forgiven if you didn’t tune into ROAD FC 31 on Saturday night.

Considering it fell on the same day as the incredibly stacked UFC 198 event which saw a new champion being crowned, a new star being born and a fan (presumably) soiling his pants, it is understandable that the Korea-based MMA event got a bit lost.

Former UFC fighter George Roop made his promotional debut in the headline bout against Yoon Jun Lee, but unfortunately for the American, it was a fight to forget, but one that will live long in his memory.

Roop threw a front kick to his opponent’s body early in the opening round and as soon as it landed, he began to lose his footing and stagger backwards. It became clear that Roop had broken his leg after landing the strike and the referee stepped in to end the contest after Roop fell to the ground in agony.

The slow-motion replay of the kick gives a clearer view of the gruesome leg-break. Roop was rushed to hospital immediately after the fight and he is expected to be sidelined for at least six months.
