Former boxing champ apologises to Conor McGregor for hastily deleted tweet after sparring session

Conan Doherty

It’s a hard MacLife.

Chris van Heerden’s ego seemed to be bruised and he lashed out. But he has since apologised.

The former IBO and IBF welterweight boxing champion took exception to Conor McGregor’s alleged editing of a video that showed the pair sparring ahead of the Dubliner’s rematch with Nate Diaz in August.

The Notorious posted a clip from training, throwing down with van Heerden who was for some reason surprised that McGregor might want to show off his best bits ahead of the fight of his life (another one) which, if the first clue wasn’t a giveaway that his scene selections might be biased, appeared on TheMacLife Productions.

The South African responded by tweeting about McGregor and it’s clear that he wasn’t too happy. This is what his deleted tweet said:

“When you have to Cut & Edit a video clip to putting pieces together to look Good It show me your Real Character #ISleepPeaceful #DoYou?”

McGregor, meanwhile, didn’t seem to give a shit.

But it was obviously weighing on van Heerden’s mind who, after a good night’s sleep (we know he sleeps peaceful after all), woke up and apologised.

The apology wasn’t unanimously accepted though. Nothing ever is on the internet, especially by Notorious fans.
