Dana White reveals incredibly embarrassing Conor McGregor nickname while promoting super fight

Not sure he'd appreciate this moniker

Fighter nicknames are a tricky business.

It’s really up to the individual what works best for them, but generally speaking, the best ones are either humorous or intimidating.

There have been a number of fighters to have used both approaches to the fight moniker during their career. At the highest possible level, Jon Jones went from being introduced as “Sexual Chocolate” to using the chilling Jon ‘Bones’ Jones.

We have an example of someone going the other way on our own shores. SBG fighter and former TUF contestant made the change from Chris ‘the Killing’ Fields to the ‘Housewives’ Choice.’

Other examples of fighters to use silly nicknames for our amusement is Danny ‘the Cheesecake Assassin’ Mitchell, Tamdan ‘the Barn Cat’ McCrory and well, pick any name Diego Sanchez has ever used. Intentional or not, they’ve all been ridiculous.

Even the most hard-nosed Conor McGregor hater will agree that his moniker suits him. ‘The Notorious’  works with his persona, his reputation and it is even integrated into his walkout song.

He doesn’t need another one, although Dana White gave him one anyway during a recent appearance on “The Herd” on FoxSports. He dropped this little nugget of information while explaining how he feels obligated to make the Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor crossover megafight materialise.

“This kid steps up. He’ll fight anybody, anywhere, anytime. A lot of people say it, very few really mean it. Conor McGregor, I call him the unicorn. I’ve never dealt with a kid like this.”

“So for him to have this kind of opportunity, to make this kind of money, this type of a fight that people are so interested in worldwide, I almost feel like I have to make it.”

Conor ‘the Unicorn’ McGregor?

Intimidating!
