Deservedly beaten but Conor McGregor’s response to defeat by Nate Diaz was pure class

It happened.

There's no doubt that most people were a little curious to see what Conor McGregor's response to defeat would be. But not many thought that defeat would come so soon for The Notorious. A beefed up McGregor was expected to see off the threat of Nate Diaz in their welterweight bout in the MGM Grand given that his opponent had less that two weeks to prepare for the fight. But Diaz rocked the MMA world with a stunning second round submission of McGregor, But it was nice to see that the Dubliner was extremely gracious in defeat.

"I took the chance going at 170 but Nate came in...," McGregor told Joe Rogan moments after the first loss of his UFC career. "I was inefficient with my energy but I am humble in victory or defeat. "I have a lot of respect for Nate. He came in at short notice. He was efficient. I was not. "I hit too much arms. "These things happen. I learn. I grow. It is what it is. I'll face it like a man, like a champion. I'll come back and do it again."
