The world of racing is in mourning today after the announcement of the death of legendary flat jockey Pat Eddery at the age of 63.

The Kildare man was champion jockey in Britain 11 times and won 4,633 races in the UK alone, including 14 Classics, while he also won the Irish Derby and Arc de Triomphe four times each during an astonishing 36-year career in the saddle. Another hero of the saddle, AP McCoy, led the tributes to Eddery on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AP_McCoy/status/664007894883549184 https://twitter.com/WilliePMullins/status/664010960781357056 https://twitter.com/mickfitzg/status/664009726460608512 https://twitter.com/HonestFrank/status/664010615388794880 https://twitter.com/BHDFlanagan/status/664008652102230016 https://twitter.com/jcorrigangolf/status/664007857688477696 https://twitter.com/MarkFurnass/status/664010662536978433 https://twitter.com/BetfairRacing/status/664010564239126528 https://twitter.com/Tigermilk20/status/664010508270444544 https://twitter.com/alandelmonte/status/664011658134732800
