The Champion chase winner Sire De Grugy won't race again in 2014 after scans on Wednesday showed up a problem with his hip.
The eight year old, who won the Tingle Creek Chase and the Queen Mother Champion Chase, was found to be lame before a scheduled appearance at Cheltenham last week and is now set for a sustained period of rest.
Gary Moore has confirmed that he won't defend the Tingle Creek Chase title at Sandown on December 6th but it is hoped he'll be ok for Cheltenham in March.
Moore said the injury is not a fracture but also expressed his surprise claiming to have never seen a problem like it before.
