Ruby Walsh is unstoppable at both ends of the world
The Irish jockey was victorious in this morning's Australian Grand National at Ballarat in Victoria, coming in at short notice to ride top weight Bashboy to a third consecutive victory in the race.
It gives Walsh wins in Grand Nationals in five different countries, following up his past triumphs in the English, Irish, Welsh and Scottish editions.
"It's brilliant to be here. As a jump jockey, you don't get many opportunities to ply your trade abroad," Walsh said. "I'm over the moon that I was asked to come, even happier that he won."
Trainer Ciaron Maher added: "Full credit to Ruby - he's just a true superstar. It's great for Australian jumps racing to get a rider of that calibre out here and for him to actually win the race - it'll be international news."
