Dublin punter one win away from being a millionaire – still pockets over €350,000 on crazy accumulator

Damn you, Imperial Way!

Conor Heneghan

Still an amazing win, but it could have been so much sweeter.

Thought you had a good weekend?

It probably didn’t go as well as it did for one Dublin-based punter, who woke up this morning over €350,000 richer after a seven-bet accumulator came good (came very good) over the weekend.

The punter in question placed a €120 ‘Super Heinz’ with Paddy Power, a seven-bet accumulator that predicted seven horses to place in their respective races.

With six of the seven horses winning, the lucky punter claimed a whopping €355,807.03 and had Imperial Way come first instead of third (having led for most of the race) in the 5pm race at Leopardstown on Sunday, the jackpot would have seen the punter become a millionaire.

That said, it wasn’t a bad haul for a man who got lucky just in time for Valentine’s Day, with €121,954 of his earnings coming from Paddy Power’s Guaranteed Best Odds concession.

Commenting on the win, Paddy Power said: “I’m not sure I’ve picked six winners all year, let alone in one afternoon. The Gods are obviously smiling down on this chap – who’s been getting lucky before even Valentine’s Day.”

His better half could be in for quite the treat on Tuesday, alright.
