 This wasn't what we needed to day after Christmas.

Fair play to Clarcam, trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Bryan Cooper, but if, like us here at SportsJOE towers, you were banking on a victory for 1/4 favourite Vautour to claw back some of that Christmas spending then you were nothing but disappointed. In driving rain in south Dublin, Clarcam cruised to victory in the Racing Post Novice Chase with 25/1 shot Ted Veale edging second place from Vautour. Kalkir was another who was supposed to bring him the bacon for punters in the Grade 2 Juvenile Hurdle but he was beaten by 33/1 shot Fiscal Focus. Across the water at Kempton Park Faugheen 'The Machine' turned in the performance of the day, storming to victory in the williamhill.com Christmas Hurdle. https://twitter.com/Channel4Racing/status/548489428004790273 It was a good day for favourites all round at Kempton as Silviniaco Conti took the King George for trainer Paul Nicholls.
