The options for Cheltenham just get better and better for the Closutton trainer

Willie Mullins secured another Grade One with victory in the Betfred TV Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase this afternoon and Gitane Du Berlais  has now has become a real prospect for the JLT Novices’ Chase in March.

The mare led from start to finish securing an eight length win from Irish Saint in second.

The victory was Mullins’ first chasing success in Britain this season, as the horse capitalised on a fall by Champagne West four from the finish.

Speaking afterwards Anthony Bromley, who’s the manager to the winning owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, said: “I thought we might be going for the novice handicap as I thought she might get beat today. She is in the Arkle, JLT and RSA so we’ll speak to Mr Mullins once she’s home and see.’
