Ashley Barnes' father-in-law has been found guilty by a BHA panel of conspiring to stop a horse from winning a race.
Barnes is a striker for Burnley, who are currently 17th in the Premier League.
According to the Mirror, his father-in-law, John Higgins, "stood accused of committing and conspiring to commit a corrupt or fraudulent practice by "agreeing to stop" Hillsin from achieving the best possible position."
Also implicated were jockey Dylan Kitts and and the horse's trainer Chris Honour.
Kitts admitted that he had purposely hampered his horse, Hillsin, during the handicap hurdle at Worcester in 2023, but that he did so under threat from Higgins.
