WATCH: WWE star John Cena makes Irish stereotype joke about Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy

All in jest

When you’re roasting sports stars, you’ve got to fully commit.

John Cena hosted the ESPYs last night and took light-hearted pot-shots at a host of sports stars, including LeBron James, Peyton Manning and Dwight Howard.

The WWE star immediately addressed the elephant in the room – the fact that he was a WWE star.

“It’s rigged, okay,” he declared. “What, you didn’t know that? It’s scripted sports entertainment.”

There goes our childhood.

Cena had a couple of digs at the embattled Rio Olympics and saved a Zika virus gag as his closer. He remarked:

“The Irish golfers, Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell, pulled out of the Olympics because of the Zika virus, which is strange because the Irish aren’t really known for pulling out.”

Zing. A Zika zing.
