WATCH: PGA golfer proves he has balls of steel after messing with this alligator

Why on earth would he do this?!

We don’t think we would have had the same reaction.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational is currently taking place at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida.

After day one, it hasn’t been a great start for Rory McIlroy.

The Co. Down native shot an opening round of 74 which leaves him seven shots off the lead.

Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo is currently leading the way and has retired to the clubhouse after shooting an impressive 67.

The conditions are quite difficult too, with a strong, swirling wind proving problematic for many of the golfers.

However, it is not just the weather which the golfers have to be fearful of.

Florida of course, tends to have its fair share of large reptiles and particularly, alligators.

One such frightening creature made its way onto the fairway during Ryan Ruffels’ round.

The 18-year-old who only turned professional last year showed bravery way beyond his years as he ushered the alligator back into the water.

We can’t imagine we would have the same reaction if we had the pleasure of playing on such a good course.

Heck, we probably wouldn’t even want to play in Florida because of these terrifying, bloody things.

It didn’t seem to hamper his performance anyway.

At the time of writing, Ruffels is currently tied for sixth with a few holes still left to play.

At least it didn’t end as badly as it did for poor Chubbs Peterson….
