Sure, you wouldn't even get this sort of thing down at the local pitch and putt course. The US Open is taking place in Chambers Bay in the north-west of America at the moment and the state of the greens is causing a fair bit of controversy. Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy have both been very vocal about the issue, but it can come across as players whining on the back of a poor round. But take a look at this putt from Darren Clarke earlier. You don't need to be Butch Harmon to see that there is something seriously wrong here. How the hell did that not go in? Bad greens or not, Shane Lowry is right in the hunt midway through his second round, and is currently occupying a place in the top ten.
