VIDEO: Padraig Harrington nails phenomenal and completely unintentional trick shot

Fluke-tastic

Now try to do it again.

You don’t need us telling you how good Padraig Harrington is at golf. His three majors, being on four Ryder Cup winning teams, his two European Tour Golfer Player of the Year awards and his 2008 PGA Player of the Year award are all a testament to that.

However, even if this writer is in absolutely no position to pass judgment (still can’t get past that pesky windmill on my local mini-golf course), there’s no way on Earth he’s capable of pulling off this spectacular shot on purpose. To his credit, he admitted as much in the tweet.

You’ve got to admire his calmness as the ball fires back down off the ceiling, bounces off the ground and catches it in his hand. That’s badassery personified right there.

We’ve had an impressive couple of weeks for sports flukes. Harrington’s miracle shot follows Ronnie O’Sullivan’s incredible stroke of luck during his 10-1 hammering of Barry Hawkins in the Masters final.

If January’s anything to go by, 2016 is going to be an incredibly flukey year.
