Video: Golfer’s “almost” hole-in-one ends up being an awful shot

how unlucky can you get

Ben Kiely

Golf is a cruel, cruel game

Ryan Moore had probably the most painfully frustrating shot of his career at the Northern Trust Open on Saturday.

His tee shot on the 315-yard par-4 10th hole looked so promising but went horribly wrong, really, really slowly. His drive came excruciatingly close to being a highlight-reel hole-in-one but instead, it hit the pin, popped out of the hole and just kept going.

The ball caromed off the lip and rolled off the green all the way into the middle of the rough. As he walked away from the tee after smashing the drive, he flung his club into the sky and laughed off his unfortunate turn of luck.

If you look closely, you can actually pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks in two.
