But it's a rarity that we see the fan get put in his place by the pro proving him wrong momentarily.
We got treated to such a scene at the Travelers Championship today when, at the beginning of his final round, Bubba Watson was offered some unwanted advice by a verbose supporter.
The hopeful "expert" recommended that the world number five send a shot under the tree with a four-iron but Watson rightly trusted his better judgement and used a sand wedge to carry the ball over the tree.
He didn't leave it at that, though, as the eventual winner proceeded to trash talk the fan.
