Shane Lowry finds himself alone in second after a battling Friday at Firestone

Not too shabby

36 holes down and Shane Lowry would likely have taken this if you had offered it to him on Thursday morning.

The world number 48 carded a second round of 66 at the WGC Bridgestone International to put himself just four shots off the lead held by Jim Furyk.

Lowry enjoyed an outstanding four birdies on the front nine but the undeniable highlight of his Friday came on the fifteenth when he found the cup with an 18-foot birdie to keep himself in contention.

If he’s being fussy, Lowry would be disappointed at the fact that he bogeyed the 18th again today at Firestone but he remains firmly in the mix heading into the weekend.
