It's fair to say Jordan Spieth's US Masters didn't get off to the smoothest of starts.

His first day at Augusta 2017 could have been a lot worse, but it also could have been a hell of a lot better. Finishing up on +3 over 75 is really a testament to his ability to recover. One quick glance at his scorecard for the day and you'll know the full story. https://twitter.com/SportsJOEdotie/status/850090497368633344 Being 10 shots off Charley Hoffman's lead after the opening day doesn't leave him out of contention by any means, although history will be against him. No player in Masters history has gone on to win after making a score worse than 7. On the 15th par 5, Spieth found the drink and went on to score a 9. Two of the three quadruple bogeys in his career have come during his last two rounds at Augusta. So he'll be hoping not to make it a solid 3/3 for his next round. Aside from that nightmare hole, Spieth had some moments of magic and was actually -1 coming through 13 holes. You can check out his 'highlights' from the first day at Augusta in the video embedded below. https://twitter.com/TheMasters/status/850107333116010496
