Jon Rahm’s reaction to beating Tiger Woods was absolutely immense

This is what the Ryder Cup is all about.

Jon Rahm showed incredible fortitude and nerves of steel on Sunday afternoon, seeing off Tiger Woods on the 2018 Ryder Cup’s final day.

The Spanish golfer beat Woods 2&1 to give Team Europe a 12 ½ to 9 ½ lead at Le Golf National in Paris. The loss completed Tiger’s indifferent few days at the tournament, where he failed to score a point for the American team.

However, it was all about Rahm who was competing in his first Ryder Cup.

There were incredible scenes on the course when Rahm sank the decisive putt in his showdown with Woods.

He recieved a big hug from his delighted teammate Rory McIlroy, who had lost his own singles match earlier in the day.

He was also visibly emotional upon beating the world’s most famous golfer.

Rahm dedicated the victory to his late grandfather and the late Seve Ballesteros, who passed away seven years ago.

“There’s a lot going on right now,” he told Sky Sports after his win.

“This was for Sevé and for my grandfather, who would have loved to have been here today. He passed away at the PGA (Championship). To beat Tiger Woods, who is one of the greatest of all time – if not THE greatest – on a Sunday, is the best feeling of my life.”
