The latest jerseys for the Cormac McAnallen camp are downright beautiful

More GAA jerseys should be like this

Fantastic man, fantastic camp, and now a fantastic jersey to boot.

Cormac McAnallen epitomised everything that is good about about the GAA.

He was an Irish man to the very core. A Gaeilgeoir, a warrior, a leader and just a good person.

He was an integral part of the 2003 Tyrone time that made history for the county, winning the All-Ireland for the first time and he was an absolute soldier for Ireland in the International Rules series too.

Everything McAnallen turned his strong hands to, he made a massive impact with. With everything he was good at, he left a lasting legacy behind him for the rest of us to follow.

In his memory, Campa Chormaic was set up in 2004 and it has been flourishing ever since. An Irish language and sports summer camp, the programme is dedicated to the following:

  • Sport
  • Language
  • Culture
  • Fun

Last year, former Irish Olympian Michael Conlan endorsed the camp and the spirit of McAnallen.

“I have an active interest in the Irish language and have been attending classes myself recently,” Conlan said at the time.

“Campa Chormaic is a fantastic legacy to Cormac and an excellent educational initiative for young children who can grow their interest in the Irish language and culture and a great incentive for them to participate in sport from an early age.”

This year – headed for its 13th year – Sigerson Cup-winning St. Mary’s manager Paddy Tally helped launched the camps as the new jersey for the 2017 programme was also unveiled.

Not a bad piece of knitwear, is it?

If the language or culture or sport or memory of one of the country’s greatest isn’t enough, the geansaí is something special too.
