James O'Donoghue is set to be out of action for up to six months due to a shoulder injury.
The 2014 Footballer of the Year has been struggling with the problem since dislocating his shoulder before the clash with Clare in May.
According to Radio Kerry the two time All Star will undergo surgery this Friday and will miss all of the Kingdom's national league campaign.
The news comes just hours after Kerry fans were told it will be March before they see Colm Cooper back in harness in Green and Gold.
The injury doesn't seem to have harmed O'Donoghue's off season exertions as evidenced by recent pics of his trip to the USA with some other Kerry players of past and present.
