Gaule and Mackey join select-club as Camogie All-Stars announced at Croke Park

As you would expect, All-Ireland Senior champions Kilkenny dominate the 2022 PwC Camogie All-Stars team after winning the O’Duffy Cup for a fifteenth time.

The champions received eight awards on Saturday night, at a ceremony that took place in Croke Park

Amongst the award winners for the All-Ireland champions were first time winners Aoife Norris as goalkeeper and Laura Murphy as wing back.  Murphy was joined in defence by stalwarts Grace Walsh and Claire Phelan, both of whom picked up their third All-Star wins.

The Cats half-forward duo of Julianne Malone and Denise Gaule were also honoured, with Gaule, the Windgap maestro, winning her sixth award in total.

The brilliant Katie Nolan took her place in the line-up in the corner-forward position, with player of the year Miriam Walsh joining as full-forward for Kilkenny.

Beaten All-Ireland finalists Cork, meanwhile, were awarded four positions on the team.  Libby Coppinger got the nod at corner-back, with Saoirse McCarthy as half-back. Ashling Thompson was selected at mid-field to win her third All-Stara and Katriona Mackey matched the aforementioned Gaule by winning her sixth.

Waterford’s Captain Lorraine Bray and Beth Carton were awarded the mid-field and centre-forward positions respectively, after their brilliant run to the All-Ireland semi-finals while Galway’s Shauna Healy won her fourth award at corner back.

Kilkenny Manager Brian Dowling was named as PwC Camogie Manager of the Year for the second time having guided the Cats to glory.

Miriam Walsh collected the PwC GPA Camogie Senior Player of the Year award for Kilkenny, with Lisa Casserly of Galway the recipient of the Intermediate accolade, whilst Antrim’s Dervla Cosgrove was chosen for the Premier Junior Player of the Year.  All three were selected after voting by intercounty players through the GPA, with the awards sponsored by PwC.
