Xabi Alonso might be upset at Steven Gerrard’s warm welcome for LA Galaxy’s new midfield enforcer

Howdy, partner.

LA Galaxy’s mission to sign as many former Premier League players as possible shows no signs of slowing down as they welcomed Nigel de Jong to the club this week.

The Dutch midfielder and former Manchester City player is linking up with Robbie Keane and friends for the first time, and joins an already lengthy list of star names living it up on the west coast.

De Jong was a fine player but will probably still be most remembered for his Kung Fu kick on Xabi Alonso in the 2010 World Cup final, for which he somehow managed to avoid a red-card.

Steven Gerrard doesn’t seem to be holding a grudge about his former Liverpool teammate almost being broken in half as he is looking forward to playing with de Jong and has described him in very warm tones.
