West Ham ridiculed for spelling star Marko Arnautovic’s name wrong on his shirt

What a shambles.

It was a decent St Stephen’s Day for West Ham. They were involved in one of the more entertaining games this season as they played out a frantic 3-3 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Hammers boss David Moyes was delighted to see Marko Arnautovic continue his excellent recent form, as the Austrian scored twice to take his total for the season to five.

However, it turns out that, five months after he joined from Stoke City, there are still some uncertainties over the spelling of his name.

On the back of the shirt he was wearing against the Cherries, Arnautovic was spelled ‘Arnoutovic.’

I mean, typos are just one of them things. They happen in emails, on WhatsApp and, sometimes, in our articles! Luckily, those particular errors can be rectified instantly. Arnautovic’s shirt is a different matter.

We hope somebody at West Ham isn’t getting the sack for sorting out the shirts with a Christmas hangover. It didn’t seem to bother the player much, though, as he was composed enough to bag a brace. Maybe they should do it more often.

Arnautovic had the last laugh, of course, benefitting from not one but two goalkeeping errors from Bournemouth’s Asmir Begovic. The first one was particularly unfortunate, as the former Chelsea man slipped at the vital moment when he went to clear, allowing Arnautovic to tap home. It was a game of many laughs.

Moyes wasn’t too amused at Bournemouth scoring a controversial 93rd-minute equaliser through Callum Wilson, who handled the ball into the net.
