WATCH: Paul Scholes bluntly refuses to pander to Indian fans during Futsal Q&A

From hero to heel in 60 seconds

Ben Kiely

If you want unfiltered, brutal honesty, Paul Scholes is your man.

The former Manchester United and England midfielder has turned his attention to the Indian Futsal League.

Although he would be considered one of the biggest draws of the league which also boasts legends such as Ryan Giggs and Ronaldinho, he isn’t actively trying to win over the home crowd with his actions off the indoor pitch. This mentality was prevalent during hi post-match interview with an Indian presenter after last night’s game.

The reporter tried to give Scholes the opportunity to play up to the crowd by getting him involved in a short Q&A. The format for the “fun” interview technique was simple – she asked him to choose his favourite of two similar things, one that was traditionally English with the other being something that you’d associate more with India, with the hope that he’d give the supporters a bit of a cheer by choosing the Indian option.

However, without skipping a beat, each time Scholes would go for the English alternative.

Check out the wonderful awkwardness in the video embedded below from about the 6:00 mark. If you pay close attention, you can actually pinpoint the moment the reporter loses all hope and decides to abandon the interview.
