It’s not meant to be this easy, but no-one told Marcus Rashford that.
The 18-year-old striker scored on his debut in the Europa League, the Premier League, for the English senior team and now for the England U21’s.
Rashford only took part in the game against Norway because he was, somewhat controversially, overlooked for Sam Allardyce’s first senior England squad.
However, Big Sam was present in Colchester as Rashford ran riot against the Scandinavians, scoring a hat-trick in some style and stating his case to start in this weekend’s Manchester derby.
The 18-year-old’s second goal of the night, in particular, was stunning.
Rashford scored the winner for United against Hull City in the final game before the international break, and if he continues this form it’s going to become increasingly difficult to hold the young striker back for club and country.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unlikely to lose his place when United host Manchester City on Saturday, but Rashford’s exploits could have a few other United players sweating over their starting spots.
