WATCH: Liverpool loanee did his best Xabi Alonso impression in Monday’s La Liga game

Defence-splitting

Oh how Liverpool could have done with a bit of this creativity against West Ham.

Chances were at a premium for the Reds during their 0-0 draw with the Hammers on Saturday evening.

But perhaps some defence-splitting genius from Luis Alberto could have unlocked West Ham’s defensive door.

Liverpool’s Alberto is currently on loan at Deportivo La Coruna where he’s been doing some absolutely wonderful things.

The 23-year-old came up with an astounding assist during La Coruna’s 2-2 draw at home to Rayo Vallecano on Monday night.

Alberto, signed by Brendan Rodgers for €9 million, looked up and spotted the intelligent run from Lucas Perez.

The midfielder let fly with a Xabi Alonso-esque pass that landed directly at the feet of Perez who duly found the net, making it four assists for Alberto this season.

He also has four goals to his name this term and although it’s unlikely that he returns to Merseyside, he’ll have done his chances no harm with magic like this.
