Everyone knows when you’re choosing your ultimate XI you start off with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo then build your team around them.
Or, if you want to go the old school route, you can opt for the likes Pele, Diego Maradona, George Best, Johan Cruyff (RIP), Dennis Bergkamp or Eric Cantona etc.
If you don’t choose any of the aforementioned legends, you’d better have one hell of a hipster choice to fill the void. However, alongside Thierry Henry, Xavi, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham, Laurent Koscielny opted for Chris Waddle in midfield.
A perfectly good player in his day, but is he Messi or Ronaldo level? You bet your curly mullet he ain’t.
